The Portland Opera came to our school and did a performance about love. It was so cool! But they broke my eardrums. They sang really loud! I really liked the show! They had props. I wanted to see it again. It was in the morning right when I got to school. When it was done they all bowed and I clapped. I thought they really did a good job! As we left, I saw them taking down props and posters. It was the best performance ever!
I love singing and dancing because you can learn new songs and dance moves. Pick your own and you can express yourself. Singing: you can sing high or low, and you can do all different songs: Opera, songs that parents like, jazz, pop, country, and reggae. Dancing: you can skip, jump, run, do flips, move your feet, and feel the beat! Its a great way to express yourself in a fun way! Put them together and you have a show!
I went to school with my lunch, backpack, and coat. When I unpacked my backpack, I grabbed my lunch and coat and took them to my desk. Then my mom came in because we had a field trip. We went to the Newmark Theater in Portland to see Geronimo Stilton. It was so cool! When I sat in my seat, the show had begun. I saw Geronimo typing on a typewriter and then people started attacking his house. He ended up going into space. When it was over, we got on the bus and went back to school. It was a fun field trip!
Malala Yousafzai is a great person because she fights for what she believes in. When she was 10, she was shot in the head by two bad people. She was sent to a hospital immediately, and survived. Malala spoke out when people were saying that girls shouldn’t go to school. She has compassion for others, grit, perseverance, and determination. People all over the world are inspired by her and her hard work. If you believe in something, do it. It can change the world.
A resolution is something that you plan to do more in this year than last year. My resolutions are to be nicer, do more kind deeds, do what other people want to do, learn more, and stand up for myself. Question: Why do I do this? Um let me think…. oh yeah! Answer: It makes me feel good! This will make the world more peaceful. If everyone did this, imagine how happy we would all be!
My tradition is going to Black Butte in the summertime, usually near the end of summer. We go with my grandparents, my uncle and my aunt. I like to go swimming, bike riding, hiking and playing tennis. My favorite things to do are hanging in the hammock and feeding the deer. Last year we fed them peanuts! They ate them right out of my hand! It felt weird. We usually stay there 4 days. We have our own room and I sleep on a water bed! My grandma and I collect all the pinecones around the house. One year I used them to make bird feeders with peanut butter and seeds. It smells like pine trees there. We do a lot there as a family. My dad has been going there since he was 7 years old. I hope I will get to go there as long as he has!
When I got home from school, winter break had begun. I was super excited! It was super fun wrapping presents, drinking hot cocoa, and watching Christmas movies by the fire. On Christmas Eve, we hung up our stockings, and put out cookies and milk for Santa Claus. Then I went to bed. In the middle of the night, I could hear Santa’s reindeer landing on my roof. I woke up. I asked my mom and dad if I could get up. They said no because it was 1:30 in the morning. I checked again at 3:3o and they said no again. So, I went back to bed. I could not wait for morning.
On Christmas morning, we opened presents, and went down to my Grampie and Grammie’s house. It was snowing! It was nice to see them. I saw my cousins too. There were presents down there too. That night we opened all the presents. I got everything I wanted. We left a few days later. This was the best Christmas!
Now back to school.
What did you do for Winter Break?
Last week we started Hour of Code. I learned a lot about computer science. I liked it because you can be creative. You can command the characters to do whatever you want. It is really fun. You should try it too!
I love fashion because you can express yourself. You can dress up funny, fancy, cute, and cool. You always look great when you dress up like yourself. I wrote a haiku about fashion. Here it is:

Be you on fashion.
Fashion is amazing.
I love geology because you can find out new things every day. Like rocks they are all different. Rocks are very special. They can do amazing things. Be magnetic, heavy, lite, big, small, soft, hard, smooth, rough, sharp, shiny, dull, flout, and sink. They are so cool if you just look. Watch this video to learn more.
